Raj Patel stopped by The Colbert Nation to discuss his new book The Value of Nothing.  His main focus is our distorted view of prices and how our current economy is hiding the true cost of consumption. He argues that the hidden costs of environmental destruction that accompany cheap prices, far outweigh the price break.  Patel uses food as an example of a commodity that is underpriced based on its true environmental impact.  Check out the clip at ColbertNation.com

I absolutely agree with Patel on the issue of the true cost of food and I’m looking forward to reading the book.
